About House Remedy
Health Begins at Home
We take it in through the air filling our lungs, the morning light setting our internal clocks, and the subtle chemistry of the materials that define our living spaces. The rooms we inhabit are never neutral backdrops; they actively shape how we rest, recover, and live. House Remedy has been exploring that connection for over a decade. What began as an inquiry into healthier living spaces has developed into an extensive body of research, observation, and real-world investigation into how the modern home influences human vitality. The questions rarely stay inside a single discipline. The choice of a wall material becomes a question of indoor air chemistry. The placement of a window becomes a question of daylight, sleep architecture, and circadian health. A simple glass of water carries the unseen history of every pipe, filter, and mechanical system it moved through.

Born Behind the Scenes
House Remedy’s perspective was not developed abstractly, It was shaped in the field, working directly inside the physical structure of homes.
Nearly two decades of hands-on work in residential design and high-performance luxury remodeling offered direct access to the areas that are typically hidden from us, everything from moisture pathways, airflow dynamics, adhesives, insulation performance, and the ever-changing chemicals that are entering our homes behind the scenes. A living space is where our bodies intersect with everything that we bring into our home; a house is a complex chemically engineered structure that interacts daily with our own biology. From the underlayment to the textiles to the cookware that we use; they all impact the daily rhythms of our lives and become part of our indoor environment.
Where Building Science Meets Biology
We are dedicated to examining the home through individual fields that are experienced together: building science, environmental exposure, architecture, and human health. The work focuses on the vital intersections that define everyday life—material purity, mechanical airflow, the restorative benefits of acoustic design, and the therapeutic potential of clean water and thermal dynamics. Some questions carry decades of scientific consensus; others represent emerging, evolving research. We lean into those nuances rather than smoothing them away, following the evidence where it leads while remaining open to the questions science is still answering.

The Story Behind House Remedy
Almost two decades ago, Michelle Lauren was preparing to become a mother. She made the commitment to herself: to bring her children into the healthiest body she could create and into a home that would facilitate their health from the very first day. That journey sent her into deep research on how the home impacts our health and how to create the healthiest life that she could envision—from air quality to mold to EMFs and beyond. What she continues to learn has not only changed how she designs her projects, but also the relationship between the home and the bodies that live inside it. Michelle is an award-winning architectural designer with over 14 years in luxury residential design and construction, dedicated to happier, healthier living.
House Remedy is rooted in perpetual curiosity.
The science of human health and our living environment is constantly shifting, requiring relentless study, observation, and real-world testing. By learning continuously from job sites and experts, House Remedy turns emerging data into practical living advise. As the science advances, so does our work. Health begins at home.
